Volcanic hot springs. The hot springs here are the second largest in the world. If you decide you want to go you will have to hire an official guide to get you.
Thirty of them, all of them were very happy and looking forward to it, laughing and chatting away and also joking. One young girl could not stop smiling. Both buses stopped in Roseau town the young people got off to do their shopping. It took them all half an hour and I was surprised.
We left town to go to our next destination. I did speak to Kwame a bus driver, he said he loved his job. We stopped at Champion at Scotshead, where we found very nice beach, with lots of fisher men and also tourists who came to visit Scosthead.
Both seas joined here, one is the Atlantic and the other is the Caribbean Sea. All the young people got off to enjoy the day.
I spoke to a tourist who said he loved coming to Dominica he said everyone is nice on the Island and he loved meeting people. There is so much you can do in Scottshead, like going to Soufriere Bay, meeting the local and having a nice glass of rum punch. You can try the hot springs bubble which comes under sea, must say it’s nice, you can stay all day. It all depends on how you feel, all the young people decided to have a swim in the sea. An hour after they cooked a nice meal, a few hours later we all packed up were ready to go home.
I must say it was a nice day travelling with the young person and also meeting the teacher who put a lot of work in looking after them.
]]>Y ou will hear some people from other countries say that Dominica is a small Island.
Yes, Dominica is a small island and we are proud of our country. Dominica has 365 rivers – the largest is the Layou River – and rainforests and Hummingbirds.
To cover more ground it’s be best that you start early in the morning around 8 AM. You will stop in different locations, your guide will explain all the places, you can then stop to have something to eat, and be on the move again.
In the Day time if you are lucky you can watch the Hummingbirds going from tree to tree; make sure to have your camera ready to take a photo. You can also take photos at the national park where you will see many different type of trees, all trees having a meaning.
Some of the trees that can be found on the island are very old. Which brings to mind the old saying – if you hug a tree it gives you its energy. To tell the truth I hugged some trees and I feel okay. There is so much you can do here and so many places you can go. Green and pleasant land of Dominica, I am proud of my country.
I have been travelling forwards and backwards to Dominica, which is my birth place, and still haven’t been able to travel around the entire island, only part of it. Even a fair bit of residents of the island haven’t travelled around the whole island of Dominica.
The best people you need to ask if you want to travel are the bus drivers. On the other-hand you can hire a taxi, some taxi’s might charge you more but it all depends on where you want to go.
Once you have done all your travelling you have to call it a day. I have tried it myself multiple times my beautiful birth place of Dominica and my beautiful island of Dominica what more can I say, I Love it!
Take a swim in the sea or walk around and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Make sure you have a guide with you to show you and your family or loved ones around.
Your guide will give you tour around Mero beach and some history about the locale.
If you want to stay overnight, your guide will be the best person to help you find suitable accommodations.

King’s hill, is a small village where everyone knows everyone. It has a small shop and bar at the side of the main road. When heading to kings hill you will come across a shop called Ma ver’os shop which is run by the owner Veronica. If you get lost stop and ask anyone where is Ma ver’os, and they will tell you how to get there when you arrive at ma ver’os why not stop and have a drink or juice or do a little shopping. The shop also has 2 staff who help Veronica when she is busy both staff are very friendly and welcome you with a smile
It’s hard work and you have to know what your doing, when it comes to farming.
Young farmer
I spoke to a young man who told me that he became a farmer because there was no other work for him. So he took up farming which as it turns out he loves.
I asked him questions about the sorts of plants he grows on his farm and he explains that he grows all types of crops from sweet potato, sweet peppers, cabbage, tanya, parsley, cucumber and a wide range of fruits.
I asked him how long does it takes to grow and he said 3 to 6 months depending.
When all his vegetables are ready he takes them to the market and sells them.
It was so nice speaking to the young man I was so happy for him and he always had a smile on his face
